DIY Gua Sha Facial Massage (Hands-Only)
A hands-only facial lymphatic drainage massage mimicking traditional gua sha
This routine outlines a facial lymphatic drainage technique using fingers and knuckles instead of specialized stones. It targets common areas like the cheekbones, under-eyes, and forehead to relieve puffiness and stimulate blood flow. Each step finishes with a downward neck sweep to drain accumulated fluid toward the collarbones.
How it works
- Neck Drainage (prep): Use two fingers on each side of the neck to sweep downwards from below the ears down to the collarbones (repeat 6 times) to open lymphatic ducts.
- Cheekbones: Form a hook with your index and middle finger knuckles. Place one knuckle above and one below the cheekbone. Glide outward along the cheekbone toward the ear (repeat 12 times), then sweep down the neck to drain (repeat drain 3 times).
- Under Eyes: Place index fingertips under the inner eye area, sweep gently outward toward the temples, rotate fingers down past the ears, and drain down the neck (repeat 12 times).
- Forehead / Hairline: Use knuckles to glide from the center of the forehead outward to the hairline, sweep down the sides of the face past the ears, and drain down the neck (repeat 12 times).
