AIDA Copywriting Framework

Classic four-step formula for structuring persuasive copy and scripts

The AIDA framework is a direct-response copywriting structure built around Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action. It guides writers through capturing initial focus, introducing engaging facts, building emotional craving, and ending with a specific call to action. It is useful for organizing marketing emails, social hooks, video scripts, and sales pitches.

How it works

AIDA Framework Breakdown:

  1. Attention (A): Hook the audience immediately with an unexpected, vivid, or relatable image/question rather than a generic statement (e.g., "Have you ever seen meatheads at the gym carry around a gallon milk jug full of water?").
  2. Interest (I): Build engagement with a compelling reason, surprising stat, or mechanism (e.g., "If you drink water within one hour of working out, you build 30% more muscle").
  3. Desire (D): Amplify emotional craving by demonstrating ease, value, or unique benefits (e.g., highlighting how easy and accessible it is).
  4. Action (A): Give clear, hyper-specific instructions on exactly what step to take, when, and how to execute it (e.g., specify the exact timing and behavior needed).
