# Zero-to-Revenue Phased Bootstrap Plan

> A six-month distribution-first roadmap for bootstrapping a SaaS to initial revenue

This framework outlines a phased, month-by-month roadmap for taking a software product from initial concept to scalable distribution. Written from the perspective of an exit-backed founder, it treats distribution rather than software development as the primary bottleneck for new founders. It enforces clear kill-criteria and single-metric targets at every stage to avoid wasted engineering time.

## The framework

WEEK 1 — Don't build anything. Post the idea raw on Twitter. If 10+ people don't DM asking for it, kill it. Saved 6 months three times this way. Goal: get to the thing people want.

MONTH 1 — Build the ugliest version that works. One feature. Get 5–10 people using it. If they don't come back twice, you don't have a product. Goal: start user retention.

MONTH 3 — Go loud everywhere. Post daily. Share your $47 MRR. DM 10 people/day with a problem-first pitch. This is when you're effectively 'in business'. Goal: $1,000 MRR.

MONTH 4 — Test marketing channels. Test SEO, ads and affiliates simultaneously for 60 days. Pick the ONE winner, kill the rest. Focus beats diversification. Goal: first $ from a new channel.

MONTH 6 — Double down on what's working. Scale ruthlessly. Don't add channels, don't optimise features. Distribution first, one channel at a time.

Core thesis: AI made building easy — distribution is the bottleneck now.

## What it is for

- Validate a new software concept before writing any code
- Set milestone goals across the first six months of bootstrapping
- Evaluate and cut ineffective marketing channels early

## Key points

- Week 1: Social validation filter with a DM threshold to eliminate unviable ideas early
- Month 1: Single-feature MVP build focused entirely on repeat user retention
- Month 3: Public building and daily direct outreach targeting an initial $1,000 MRR
- Month 4: 60-day concurrent testing across multiple acquisition channels to pick a single winner
- Month 6: Focused scaling on the winning acquisition channel without premature feature expansion
