YouTube Premiere Postponement View Exploit

Tactic to repeatedly trigger YouTube premiere recommendation windows by postponing start times

A growth technique originally highlighted by The Spiffing Brit that games YouTube's recommendation system. By scheduling a Premiere and repeatedly pushing back its start time right before launch, creators keep the video in YouTube's high-priority promotion window to stack waiting viewers.

How it works

How the exploit works:

  1. Schedule a video or livestream as a YouTube Premiere (e.g., set for 2:00 PM).
  2. YouTube begins pushing the upcoming premiere heavily onto user feeds and notifications roughly 20 minutes before it goes live.
  3. Right before the scheduled start time (e.g., at 1:59 PM), edit the premiere time and postpone it by another 20 minutes (e.g., to 2:20 PM).
  4. Repeat this postponement cycle several times. YouTube continues promoting the premiere window as imminent, compounding recommendations and stacking up thousands of waiting concurrent viewers before you actually broadcast or publish.

What it's for

  • Increase initial concurrent viewership on a new YouTube Premiere
  • Trigger multiple recommendation and notification waves for upcoming videos
  • Stack waiting room viewers to signal high initial engagement to YouTube's algorithm

Key points

  • Schedule a video or livestream as a YouTube Premiere at an initial launch time
  • Allow YouTube's recommendation algorithm to prioritize the video during its 20-minute pre-launch window
  • Postpone the premiere start time right before it goes live by another 20 minutes
  • Repeat the postponement cycle to continuously refresh high-priority recommendations and notifications
  • Launch the premiere once a large audience has accumulated in the waiting lobby
