# Winter Scarf as a Balaclava

> How to tie a standard winter scarf into a protective hood

This scarf-tying technique converts a standard winter scarf into a makeshift balaclava and neck wrap. It protects your head, ears, and neck from cold wind when you do not have a separate beanie or hood.

## How it works

1. Drape the scarf evenly around your neck with both ends hanging forward.
2. Cross and tuck the ends snugly around your throat/collar.
3. Grab the section behind your neck and pull it up over the top of your head to form a snug hood framing your face.
