# The 1-Minute 'Teach Me Something' Interview Framework

> An interview icebreaker and rubric to evaluate rapid communication skills.

This interview technique asks candidates to teach the interviewer any concept within a strict 60-second timer. It tests a candidate's ability to synthesize information quickly and communicate clearly under time pressure. The exercise is scored across three criteria: completeness, complexity, and clarity.

## How it works

Prompt to candidate:

'Teach me something new in one minute.' (Give them a moment to think, then set a 60-second timer on your phone).

Grading Criteria:

1. Completeness: Did they actually finish the lesson within 60 seconds without running out of time?

2. Complexity: How substantial is the subject matter? (e.g., explaining an 18th-century art concept connected to religious trends vs. something trivial like patting your head and rubbing your stomach).

3. Clarity: Did the listener actually learn and understand the concept? Was the idea conveyed wholly and clearly?

## What it is for
