# Public Beta Explainer Video Format for Developer Tools

> Format for announcing developer tool betas with side-by-side code and UI

A reference video layout for announcing early developer tool releases, modeled after Vercel's Chat SDK announcement. It pairs real-time chat interface events on the left with reacting backend TypeScript code on the right to demonstrate SDK capabilities in under 20 seconds. It works well as a blueprint for launching developer-facing betas and soliciting API feedback.

## How it works

Video 19s, cover frame at 10.4s: left, a Slack \#general chat demo (Alice @mentions ChatBot to summarize a thread, ChatBot replies, reacts to a 👍, Bob asks a follow-up and bot.onSubscribedMessage fires); right, bot.ts code highlighting onSubscribedMessage handler. Text notes public beta, still in development, ask for help shaping API/providers; repo: github.com/vercel/chat.

## What it is for

- Announce a developer library or SDK beta on social platforms
- Demonstrate event-driven code execution alongside live end-user UI
- Solicit community feedback on early API designs and provider integrations

## Key points

- Side-by-side split screen showing end-user UI on one side and backend code on the other
- Real-time code highlighting synchronized with incoming chat platform events
- Under-20-second duration optimized for social media attention spans
- Clear beta disclaimer framing the release as work-in-progress to gather API input
- Direct link to the open-source repository for documentation and community contributions
