Prêt Croissance Transmission
Unsecured loan program by Bpifrance for business acquisitions in France.
Prêt Croissance Transmission is a business acquisition loan offered by the French public investment bank (Bpifrance) to finance company takeovers and successions. It provides between €50,000 and €5,000,000 without requiring personal guarantees or collateral, covering up to 40% of the total acquisition debt alongside commercial bank financing. It includes a multi-year term with a two-year deferral on principal repayments.
How it works
Structure and terms for acquiring a French business:
- Eligibility: Target company must be based in France and actively operating for more than 3 years; buyer needs a viable business plan. No French citizenship or residency required.
- Corporate Structure: Create a French holding company (Holdco). The Holdco secures the bank debt + Bpifrance loan and acquires 100% of the target company. Loan repayments are funded by the operating company's future profits.
- Financing breakdown: Bpifrance funds up to 40% of the debt through Prêt Croissance Transmission (€50k–€5M, 3–7 year term, 2-year principal grace period, no collateral/guarantee). The remaining 60% comes from a commercial bank and buyer equity.
- Personal equity boost: Buyers can apply for a Prêt d'Honneur (up to €50k at 0% personal loan), which commercial banks count toward the buyer's required equity contribution.
