Paperclip

Open-source orchestration layer to run teams of AI agents as companies.

Visit github.com ↗

Paperclip is a self-hosted Node.js server and React dashboard designed to coordinate multiple AI coding and operations agents under one unified company structure. Instead of managing dozens of disconnected terminal tabs, it organizes agents into org charts with roles, budgets, reporting lines, and ticket-based goal alignment. It works across diverse agent runtimes including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and OpenClaw via a scheduled heartbeat system.

What it's for

  • Coordinate multiple heterogeneous coding agents under a single task and ticket dashboard
  • Enforce strict token and cost budget limits across projects and individual bots
  • Establish organizational hierarchies where CEO or manager bots delegate subtasks to specialist agents
  • Automate recurring operational jobs and code maintenance routines via cron or webhook triggers

Features

  • Bring Your Own Agent support for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, bash, and HTTP bots
  • Hierarchical org chart design with defined roles, reporting lines, and agent permissions
  • Budget controls and spending caps that automatically pause agent runs when limits are reached
  • Atomic task checkout with execution locks to prevent conflicting work
  • Goal alignment tracking that links low-level tasks directly to company missions
  • Heartbeat execution queues that wake agents on assign, follow-up, or schedule
  • Built-in governance controls for human-in-the-loop approvals, hiring gates, and rollbacks
  • Skill Studio for training, evaluating, and injecting reusable skills into agents at runtime

Pricing

Open source. Free and open-source under the MIT license; hosted Paperclip Cloud has a waitlist.

Why it was saved

  • @dotta, 4 March 2026: Answers the '20 Claude Code tabs open' problem — organizes mixed agents (Claude, Codex, OpenClaw, Cursor, Bash, HTTP) under one org structure with a CEO/CTO/CMO-style hierarchy, heartbeats, cost control and an auditable ticket system.
