Interactive X Player Card Embedding
Guide to embedding interactive websites and web apps inside tweets
A practical guide detailing how to run interactive web applications, games, and forms directly inside the X timeline using Twitter player cards. It outlines required meta tags, iframe security headers, and workarounds for iframe sandbox restrictions.
How it works
Claim: you can run a real website INSIDE a tweet — people click, type and play in it without leaving the timeline.
Origin: seen done by @tarasshyn 3 days earlier; the author has since shipped 3 player cards:
- a multiplayer pile where you throw others
- a red pill vs blue pill tower defense game
- his newsletter signup (the card in the video, which is playable)
How to do it, step by step:
1. Add the player card tags to your page
- twitter:card = player
- twitter:player = the URL X loads inside the tweet
- twitter:player:width = 640, twitter:player:height = 480
- twitter:image = the poster people see first
2. Let X embed your page
- add a frame-ancestors header that allows X.com
- remove any X-Frame-Options header
3. Post the exact final URL
- https + www, zero redirects
4. Build for the sandbox
- X runs your page in a locked frame
- forms don't submit (send with fetch instead)
- no login
- open links in a new tab
5. Design for two screens
- desktop: the page runs inside the tweet
- mobile: people see the image, tap, and X's panel covers the bottom 30% of your page
