Estimating Competitor Revenue via Fiscal Receipts

Estimate retail competitor sales volume and revenue using tax fiscal receipts.

This technique uses mandatory fiscal cash register receipts to track a retail competitor's daily sales volume. By making a small purchase near closing time and reading the receipt data via a tax receipt checker app, you can identify total transactions processed during the shift. Multiplying this transaction count by the average order value provides an estimate of daily revenue.

How it works

  1. Visit the competitor's location near closing time at the end of the day.
  2. Buy any cheap item (even a bottle of water) and ensure you get a fiscal receipt with a QR code (printed from the fiscal cash register / online KKT, not just the bank terminal slip).
  3. Scan the QR code using the official tax receipt verification app ('Проверка чеков ФНС').
  4. Look at the fiscal check number ('Кассовый чек') to see the total number of orders processed that day (and 'Смена №' to see how many days/shifts they have operated).
  5. Multiply the total number of sales by the estimated average ticket size (средний чек) to estimate the total revenue for the day.
