Content Brief for AI-Era Search
A content brief framework designed for traditional SEO and AI search citations
This framework structures web content to rank in traditional search engines while maximizing citations in AI Overviews. It outlines a modular page format focused on direct answers, People Also Ask (PAA) queries, and distinct information gain.
The framework
Goal: content that ranks on search AND gets cited by AI Overviews. Three rules: 1) direct answer in first 150 words, 2) every section tied to a real search question, 3) every section complete on its own.
1. THE ANSWER BLOCK: What one question does this page answer? Write a 100-150 word direct answer, no fluff, no intro, at top of page. AI Overviews pull from this block. Formula: {keyword} → {question} → {150w answer}.
2. THE STRUCTURE: What are people also asking? Search {keyword}, find the PAA box, each question = one H2, each H2 stands alone: {PAA Q1-Q4} → H2s. AI reads sections independently — each must answer on its own.
3. THE EDGE: What do the top 5 results NOT do? Pick one: original data, specific ICP, named framework, deeper subtopic. "This page does {X} no one else has." Can't finish it? Brief not ready.
BRIEF OUTPUT (hand this to Claude): keyword {your keyword}, core question {the one Q}, AEO block {150-word answer}, H2 map {PAA questions}, reader {specific person}, edge {the one thing}, CTA {one action}, EEAT signal {quote/data}.
PRE-PUBLISH CHECK: 1. First 150w answer core Q directly? 2. Every H2 maps to a PAA question? 3. Every section stands alone? 4. One cited data point per section? 5. Human gets something AI summary doesn't? All YES → publish, any NO → fix first.
