Proof-of-origin token provider plugin for yt-dlp to bypass YouTube bot checks

Visit github.com ↗

A yt-dlp plugin and server that generates YouTube Proof-of-Origin (PO) tokens via LuanRT's Botguard library. It helps yt-dlp circumvent "Sign in to confirm you're not a bot" errors and rate-limiting when downloading from flagged or datacenter IP addresses. Tokens can be provided via a persistent HTTP/Docker daemon or on-demand scripts.

What it's for

  • Bypass YouTube bot checks and 403 errors when scraping or downloading videos via yt-dlp
  • Run automated media download pipelines reliably from datacenter IP addresses
  • Serve proof-of-origin tokens to multiple yt-dlp instances using a centralized Docker container

Features

  • Integrates directly with yt-dlp's PO Token Provider Framework
  • Generates PO tokens using LuanRT's Botguard interfacing library (BgUtils)
  • Offers an HTTP server mode with prebuilt Docker images (Node.js and Deno)
  • Supports on-demand script execution mode without a persistent daemon
  • Built-in caching mechanism with configurable TTL
  • Easy installation via PyPI or manual yt-dlp plugin folder drop-in
